About
Ventura Camp Systems, LLC
High on the slopes of Mount Haleakala on
the island of Maui, the Cabin Cot Tent was born.
The inventor, Scott Ventura, was involved in a

problems
in his neck and back. His injuries kept
him from doing what he loved most, camping.
He had always used tents in the past
because a cot could not provide him
the shelter that tents provide. At this
point, his injuries prohibited him from
sleeping on the ground, even on an air
mattress or foam padding in a tent.
This is when the Cabin Cot Tent idea
came about. His vision was to provide
the ultimate warmth and comfort for
people while camping in the great outdoors.
He then began to design and build what became the first of many Cabin Cot Tent designs to come. The ultimate goal was to provide any user -- young or old, big or small, rich or poor -- the most comfortable night's rest imaginable outdoors. The initial goal of his company, Ventura Camp Systems, was to provide outdoor enthusiasts with advantages that have never been available when camping. The first is the ability to camp in and on just about any terrain (i.e. jagged rocky terrain, mud, snow, 6" to 10" inches of standing water, etc.). The second advantage is that by providing a 100% bug proof environment off the ground, campers are kept protected from the insect and bug population. When the Cabin Cot is closed properly it will keep out mosquitoes, centipedes, scorpions, spiders, roaches and ants as well as snakes, mice and rats.
In
the May/June issue of CAMPING LIFE
magazine, the Cabin Cot was listed
as one of the 30 great tents; it was
also voted one of the top ten new
camping products for the 2003 Outdoor
Retailer Winter Market - Salt Lake
City, Utah. Also viewed in Cabela's
2004 Master Fall Catalog and Spring
Catalog as well as their website.
Although not yet military issued equipment,
in the last 18 months, over 1,200
military personnel purchased the Cabin
Cot for their use in the Middle East.
